Lake Tahoe ATV Tours

Guided quad adventures on the Rubicon Trail and through Carson Valley high desert.

An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is the classic quad — single rider, handlebars, thumb throttle. It's the most agile vehicle for the technical terrain around Lake Tahoe. We currently feature two guided ATV experiences from Lake Tahoe Adventures, both worth your time.

Why guided beats self-drive

The Rubicon Trail isn't a smooth gravel road — it's named "the granddaddy of all four-wheel trails" for good reason. Renting an ATV and trying to navigate yourself is a recipe for an expensive day that ends with someone lost or stuck. Guided tours include vehicle, fuel, helmet, eye protection, route knowledge, and someone who's done this thousands of times and knows where the photos look best.

What's included

  • Modern, well-maintained ATV
  • DOT-approved helmet
  • Safety goggles

What to bring yourself

  • Closed-toe shoes (no sandals)
  • Long pants (jeans work well)
  • Sunglasses & sunscreen
  • Light layer / windbreaker
  • Water bottle

  • Bandana for dust (optional)
  • Cash for guide gratuity

Our guide Mike knew every inch of the Rubicon. He took us to viewpoints I'd never have found on my own. Worth every penny — bucket list activity for any Tahoe trip.

First time on an ATV. The safety briefing was thorough, the practice loop made me confident, and by the end I was attacking turns like a pro. Family-friendly operation.
