Spa day is the single most common bachelorette weekend element across destinations. Tahoe has fewer spa options than Scottsdale or Sedona but the spas it does have are excellent. This is the practical guide: where to go, what to book, what to pay, and how to fit a spa session into a Tahoe bachelorette weekend.
Should a Tahoe bachelorette include a spa day?
Yes, if
- The bride specifically values spa
- Budget allows ($150-450 per person added)
- The weekend has a "rest moment" needed (after an active Saturday morning)
- One or more bridesmaids is pregnant or otherwise needs lower-key options
Skip, if
- Group is more adventure-focused
- Budget is tight
- The weekend is already packed with activities
- The bride doesn't specifically want spa
The four Tahoe spa tiers
Tier 1: Destination spas
Stillwater Spa at Edgewood Tahoe Resort (Stateline NV)
The premium option. Inside the Edgewood Tahoe Resort. Full spa with treatment rooms, relaxation lounges with lake views, whirlpool, steam room, sauna. The "destination spa" you'd pick if budget is comfortable.
Group booking: Excellent for bachelorettes. They handle 6-12 person bookings well. Book 6+ weeks ahead for Saturdays.
Pricing:
- 60-minute Swedish massage: $185-220
- 90-minute massage: $260-310
- Facials: $180-280
- Body treatments: $220-340
- Group packages: 10-15% off if booking 6+ treatments simultaneously
Why it's the top choice: Treatment quality is high, the relaxation areas with lake views are gorgeous, the experience feels like a real "spa day," and bachelorette groups get treated well. The post-treatment robe-and-tea time with your bridal party is the moment.
Tier 2: Boutique spas
Tahoe Beach Club Spa (South Lake Tahoe)
Smaller but excellent. Often less booked than Edgewood. Lake views from some treatment rooms.
Pricing: 60-min massage $150-190, facials $130-220. Group bookings work for 4-8 people.
Stillwater Cove Spa (Hyatt Incline Village, North Lake)
Top option if you're staying North Lake. Full spa amenities, less destination feel than Edgewood but quality is high.
Pricing: Similar to Edgewood, maybe 10% lower.
Tier 3: Local day spas
Vitality Health & Spa (South Lake Tahoe)
Independent local spa. Good treatments at lower prices. Limited group booking capacity (4-6 max).
Pricing: 60-min massage $100-135, facials $80-150.
Tahoe Skin Care
Facial-focused, smaller setting, good for small groups (4-5).
Tier 4: Mobile/in-rental spa services
Mobile massage therapists
Hire 2-3 licensed massage therapists to come to your vacation rental. Set up treatment in bedrooms. Each woman rotates through.
Pricing: $150-220 per 60-minute treatment, in-rental.
Best for: Group of 6-10 wanting the spa experience without leaving the rental.
Coordination: Book through TahoeMobileMassage.com or local independent therapists.
How to fit spa into the weekend
Option A: Saturday morning spa (no ATV)
Replace the morning ATV with spa. Saturday 9 AM-12 PM at Stillwater Spa, treatments + relaxation. Lunch at Edgewood Bistro. Afternoon for boat day or lake. This works for groups whose bride doesn't want adventure activity.
Option B: Saturday afternoon spa (after morning ATV)
Active morning (ATV/UTV) + afternoon spa. Active body in the morning, rest body in the afternoon. The balanced version. Treatments 2-4 PM at Stillwater Spa, dinner at 7 PM.
Option C: Sunday morning spa (recovery)
Use the spa as Sunday recovery. After a full Saturday of activities, Sunday brunch then spa treatments 11 AM-1 PM. Group leaves feeling reset.
Option D: Mobile in-rental spa Friday or Saturday evening
Therapists come to the rental Friday evening (8-11 PM) or Saturday late afternoon (4-7 PM). Each bridesmaid gets a 60-min treatment in rotation. Wine, charcuterie, and conversation in the living room between treatments.
Group booking logistics
Book 6+ weeks ahead
Saturday afternoon at Stillwater Spa books out 4-6 weeks ahead in summer. Add 2-3 weeks for groups of 8+.
Decide which treatments at booking
Spa front desks need to coordinate therapists' schedules. "8 women want massages" is easier than "8 women, but we'll decide on treatments when we arrive." Pre-decide.
Lock the group payment method
Easiest: one person puts a card on file for the entire group's treatments + tips, then collects from bridesmaids after via Venmo. Avoids 8 separate checkout lines.
Group rate negotiation
Some Tahoe spas offer 10-15% group discounts for 6+ treatments. Ask explicitly at booking. Sometimes the answer is no, sometimes the discount is automatic.
Tipping
20% on treatment cost is standard. Pre-add to the group bill so therapists don't get stiffed.
What treatment to book
For first-time spa-goers: 60-minute Swedish massage
Standard relaxation massage. Universally appealing. Hard to go wrong.
For the bride specifically
90-minute massage + 60-min facial OR custom "bridal" package if the spa offers one. The bride gets the upgrade.
For groups wanting variety
Mix treatments — half the group books massages, half books facials. Smaller spas may not handle this well; large spas (Stillwater) absorb it easily.
For pregnant bridesmaids
Prenatal massage if available. Pre-disclose at booking — therapists need to be trained.
Cost expectations
Per person for a Saturday afternoon spa session at Stillwater Spa (Tier 1):
- 60-min Swedish massage: $185-220
- Plus 20% tip: $37-44
- Relaxation lounge time included
- Total: $222-264 per person
For a group of 8 women, that's ~$1,800-2,100 for the spa portion. Real money — make sure the bride values it before committing the budget.
What to skip
Spa packages that include things you don't need
"Spa day packages" with $400+ price tags often include 6 hours of treatments. Most bachelorette groups don't need 6 hours — they need 90-120 minutes of treatments + relaxation time. Pick à la carte.
Couples massages
For obvious reasons.
Casino spa add-ons
Casino spas (at Bally's, Harveys, etc.) are generally not as good as the dedicated spa destinations. Skip unless your hotel block has a comp package that includes them.
What to wear and bring
- Comfortable clothes (you'll change into a robe)
- Hair tie (for hair management during treatment)
- Don't shave the morning of (extra-sensitive skin)
- Drink water before AND after
- Avoid alcohol the hour before treatments
- Leave makeup off (especially for facials)
